Super Bowl XLV
My daughter rooted for the Steelers. Because she likes their colors.
Outcome doesn’t matter. She is wearing black and gold to school tomorrow.
My son – a Packers fan. Cut and dry.
My husband? He is the only man in America that doesn’t even know who is playing. I’m serious.
Me? I love cheese on everything. So….. I have no choice! Packers it is by default.
I really just watch the commercials and root for anything with cheese on it. Mostly the snack table.
There’s a score board and numbers and officials to make it, well, official.
BUT WHO REALLY WON? I have decided by autonomous vote, ME.
I won the Superbowl.
You ask, how did I win the Superbowl? (I wasn’t eaves dropping, your thoughts were just really loud).
I won because I am alive to see it.
I won because I’m in a land where I’m free to choose the team I want to cheer for.
I won because I can change my mind anytime I want.
I won because we watched it in our church FULL of God loving people.
I won because my family was there with me, even though they rooted for different teams.
What causes YOU to win or lose?
Choosing to think about the things in life that we DO have helps us to be the winner everyday – no matter what the game.
It is easy to think about the bad things that inevitably happen regularly, like traffic. But the game changing play in our lives EVERY single day is deciding to think about all the good!
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
— Prov 23:7 AMP
The Bible says how we think determines how we are. How does that work?
Our thoughts decide our feelings, mood and attitude. Our thoughts control our outlook, our motivation and therefore our ability to perform. Our performance determines our outcome.
If we think happy, positive and smile no matter what. We will BE happy.
How we think about even the little things in life determines whether we walk around today with a winning or losing attitude. We can count our blessings, decide that no matter what the score is ‘we win’, and walk right into better performance and outcome today.
Think like a winner and we will BE a winner.
Simply by deciding – no matter what the score, today I win because God loves Me. You get to decide before you leave the house if you win today. So ask yourself… are you going to think like a winner today?
Oh, I forgot. I also win because I have leftover Superbowl snacks in the frig. Did you here that? They are calling my name now! And they have cheese on them.

Great insight Pastor Nicole!
i thin the settlers won because I like the move that the one man made it was so asome
You are so right, Pastor Nicole. During the pre-superbowl teaching, it was said that the best thing you can have is a short memory, to focus on what’s ahead, not on what just happened. Monday, I got a speeding ticket on the way to work, forgot my ID & due to that had to park twice as far away, had to register for a temp ID just to get in the door, got to my desk and was locked out of my computer and that was only the first hour. And yet I chose to have a short memory, kept my focus ahead on the clean slate of potential in front of me and chose to believe that no matter what “happens” I win. Because of that I had a really good day. Thank you for the reminder!
Amy is so right, I have adopted the new Francesca Battistelli song, “This is the Stuff” as my personal theme song. My family can attest to the truth of the phrase…”And call me please because I can’t find my phone.” They hear it at least once a day from me!!! IT IS up to me to decide if I will be happy” no matter what” (Kerrie Roberts).

What’s the name of this game…..? I WIN!!!
(A common phrase heard when working with Patrick and his family.)
I use to be one of those people who would get so frustrated at the little things. And sometimes I slip up and still do. But I am working hard at staying positive in the storms and sunny weather.
Thanks for your blog Pastor Nicole. It helps to have a positive word spoken into my life.
Love YA!
Amy
PS.
My new favorite song by Francesca Battistelli “this is the stuff” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqqdA8LHN7I
It’s message is about how God uses our messes to help us grow. When I listen to this song it helps me to smile, knowing that God is using the stuff I am going through to make me a better person.
Pastor Nicole I just love your blogs. What a blessing it was to see so many people last night there in the house of God watching the football game. God is so good. Love you.
Love you Nicole. Keep up the great work that you do!!!
