Time Suckers

Every morning, it seems like I wake up with a MILLION things on my mind that I feel like I HAVE to do! Are you like me?

Before I leave for work, I’ve planned to:
• Read my Bible
• Work out
• Drink two big glasses of water
• Straighten the house
• Start a load of laundry
• See that everyone gets breakfast
• Feed the dog
• Take my vitamins
• Shower
• And finally get dressed

Little Foxes

But if I don’t watch myself, I tend to get OVERLY occupied with a few small projects. You know those things you just CAN’T walk by without handling quickly.

Honestly, I can have the spice cabinet reorganized BEFORE the coffeemaker stops dripping! To clean out the hall closet, I usually have to make toast! 🙂

Then just when I start feeling like I’m gaining MOMENTUM and accomplishing SO much….I glance at the clock.

OMG!!! Where did the time go?

Something’s Gotta Give!

Now I’m going to have to cut something BIG out of my day, because I let the SMALL things rob me of my time.

The Bible says, “Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes.” Song of Solomon 2:15 (NKJV)

So if I cut out my work out, my physical health might SUFFER.
But if I don’t read my Bible, I won’t be PREPARED to face the pressure at work with a healthy spiritual, mental and emotional foundation. That REALLY spoils my day!

And if I can’t get that laundry started and tidy up that area, it’s just gonna BUG me until I get home tonight!

First Things First

In every area of life we need to constantly reevaluate our priorities, making sure we’re putting FIRST things FIRST.

We could start by delegating some of those little tasks, so that we can FOCUS on what really matters to us.

Let’s make a decision to STOP letting those little “time suckers” DISTRACT and DERAIL us from achieving our larger goals.

Could we make a SEVEN day commitment to try this together, and review our progress at the end of the week?

That’s manageable RIGHT?

Let’s go ahead and share that we’re going to agree to do this for one week. If you’re on the seven-day train to getting the important stuff done, comment below so that we can gather momentum together?

You know Pastor Nicole, you hit the nail on the head. I was just making a mental to-do-list. I had it all figured out and came down stairs, and the rest is history. Then I sit at the table with my coffee and cereal , wondering, how can I do all this? Then read your message and smile. So I will do the 7 day challenge too.

Agreed! I need to straighten up my mornings, so that rhe rest of my day goes as God plans. What great strength there is in quiet time with Him. 7 days! Let’s do this!

I am going to work through all my paper piles. I feel like I’m trying to move a mountain with a pair of chopsticks !! I need to start each day with prayer. I love the saying ” A day hemmed in prayer rarely comes undone.” I just need to pray then start picking through the piles. I am sure it will go much faster !! 🙂
