Ever found out something in life that you really wish someone would have just told you?

The next 12 business days I’m going to share 1 of 12 things I learned in 2012 in 30 seconds or less.

If you like it – post it on facebook, twitter it or email it to a friend. If you don’t like it, just wait for tomorrow’s things I learned!

Here We Go…

#1 Whoever said sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you, LIED! Words weigh a ton.

Make sure we use words wisely, even in moments of aggravation or anger. They are often the difference maker.

  1. faye wenger says:

this is so true living this all my life i feel its one of the worst cases o f abise and affects you in every step of your life.

  2. Terry Sanders says:

Pastors you have changed my out look on life and the way I do things each day God Bless You Both.

    • Nicole Crank says:

      Terry,

Thank you! Our mission is to build God’s kingdom and inspire hope in the people we come across! Our outlook determines our reality. See it, believe it, achieve it!
      God bless YOU Terry 🙂

  3. Angie Jones says:

How I use words to communicate can be a game changer for me! It has taken me years to realize the power of my own words for myself and others around me. I challenge myself daily to use positive words, positive phrases and positive body language. It is not always easy and I fail at times but one of my goals in 2013 is to increase my positivity and throw out negativity in my life and it begins with the words that I speak. Great message Pastor Nicole. You are an inspiration to me!

  4. Pam Busch says:

And unfortunately, some words you can’t take back…. from your mouth or your memory. When I was married the first time, my Father passed away from a heart attack shoveling snow off the roof of our home. I was devastated!! Afterwords, at a restaurant, my then husband told me that my Dad deserved to die because he never should have been on the roof. I new that moment, that I could never love that man again. Those words killed every feeling I had for him. We divorced later. Words do hurt. And some you can’t take back..

    • Melanie says:

I’m so sorry for your loss. It was a stupid, inconsiderate thing for him to say. Maybe he said it out of guilty feelings for not being up on the roof taking care of the snow himself! Be healed.. Peace to you and know the love between father and daughter never dies.

      • Nicole Crank says:

Melanie – Good point, a lot of times people don’t know what to say so we say something we regret later. We just have to remember, when we do mess up – admit it, quit it and forget it!

    • Nicole Crank says:

Pam – You are so right, some words have a tendency to ring in our ears for years! I still fight some of the things I heard as a teen….

  5. Kris Caldwell says:

I have been asked over and over again why people trust me…it is simple, I make people feel good about themselves…WORDS will change someone’s lives –

    • Nicole Crank says:

Kris – That is such a golden formula! People love to be around people that make them feel good. It is one thing to know that and another thing to DO it. And you DO it! Kudos!

  6. Ronda Shoults says:

Oh my goodness -so true. People’s words have the ability to make you feel like you are unworthy of love, you ar dumb, nothing good is going to happen to you, they make you doubt your beliefs and doubt God’s favor! It is so difficult to recover from but you can!Beilieve in yourself listen to that smothered voice that says I am better than this! Pray!

    • Nicole Crank says:

      That’s right Rhonda!

Hurting people hurt people. It’s human nature. But we have the best example to model our actions after in Jesus. He was as perfect as you can get, and people still treated Him unfairly! People’s words can tear you down if you let them. But sometimes all it takes is one piece of encouragement from God’s Word or from a good friend to get us right back on our feet again!

    • Vickie Wanzek says:

Amen to that that Ronda. I went through that about 5 months ago, I haven’t gotten over it yet. Its like they say u can forgive but never forget.

  7. Kat Hanson says:

I love this cause its so true i been beaten down alot in church now i am so mad and fustrated back with words it hurts when a Pastor did something so horrible to you and everyone shoves you away when u just need a shoulder to cry WORDS REALLY HURT Trying figure God is hard he used bible on me want to believe God loves me not to hurt me like i have been yep i need watch my words back

    • Nicole Crank says:

      Kat,

One thing I always try to remember is that, no matter where you go, people are still people. Even in some church’s, it’s hard to believe so much hurt can come from a place that’s supposed to produce so much love. But the good news is, our job when people hurt us is to surrender that pain and offense to God. My prayer for you today is that God will bring some NEW people into your life who will build you up and encourage you! Words do hurt, but words bring life as well! It’s all about which words you choose to receive and which to reject!

  8. Fernando says:

A tube amp, whether Marshall or not, works sonhteimg like this -When you turn the power on and the standby switch is on, power starts to flow through the power supply, but is only diverted to the heaters in the tubes. This lets them warm up a little before they have to run 100%, and helps cushion them a little, lets them live longer. After 60-90 seconds, you flip the standby switch off and power starts to run through the whole amp.Once this happens, everything is online plate voltages are at working level, the tubes are heated up and conducting, etc.Tubes are generally run in such a way that they are relatively linear at low signal strength, but become progressively less linear the harder they’re pushed. What this means to you is that at low gain and low volumes, tubes will amplify what you put in pretty accurately (the same as transistors, incidentally). So, not much distortion at low volumes and low gain.Once you start adding gain and turning up the volume, though, you push the tubes harder, and tubes start to become less accurate ie, they start adding distortion. This mostly takes the form of lower order harmonics (2nd and 3rd), which tends to sound musical and louder, as well, especially due to the high quantities of 2nd harmonic distortion. Some other stuff starts happening, too when transistors are overloaded they clip hard they chop off the top of the sine wave while tubes tend to compress the sine wave, which means a smoother, more musical feel to the overall sound.( the technical explanation is that when you chop the top off of a sine wave you create a square wave, which means you’ve just added tons of odd-order harmonics to your signal. compression still adds odd-order harmonics, but far, far fewer than hard clipping )So you’re always using the tubes, just that they start working a little different when you push em harder.Saul
