Group Of Men Meeting In Creative Office

I never want to think I’ve got it all figured out.

Not in business, not in church, not in the things of God…

Lord, help me to stay teachable.

Remind me that there’s always something new to learn.

I do not know it all.

Listening Leads To Learning
The first step in staying teachable is learning to listen.

As the old saying goes, “We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.”

I’ve noticed when I am talking, I am not learning and when others are talking, I am learning. The best way to teach yourself how to listen is to ask questions.

Learn By Asking Questions
When David and I first started Faith Church, we met with many brilliant church leaders from all over the country.

I kept a list of questions in my mind and I would ask every question I could. I remember running back to the hotel room to type out everything I could remember from our conversations.

Our philosophy as church leaders was and is, “we already know what we know, we need to know what they know.”

Listening to and benefitting from the experiences and education of others will take you further, faster.

The Greatest Enemy Of Learning Is Knowing
The goal of all learning is action, not knowledge. As Christians, our action is love.

“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2 (NIV)

What good is the knowledge that we are blessed and highly-favored if we don’t use it to help a hurt and dying world?

If what you are doing right now does not in some way contribute to making this world a better place, then question its value and be prepared to make changes.

Change Is The Key That Unlocks The Door To Great Opportunity
Today, I want to challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and become teachable. A mind stretched can never go back to its old dimensions.

Today, God is calling each of us to stretch our capacity.

Change can be scary and push us out of our comfort zone but allowing god to stretch us and move us often leads to a greater being of who we are. Walking by Faith gives us comfort.

  2. Shelly says:

Im just curious to know if you have red hair? Because girl…..you are on fire! Great word! Blessings, Shelly Best

  3. Cheryl Kline says:

Thank you, Pastor Nicole for this reminder. I NEVER want to stop learning!
