Sometimes kids are SO cute, I find myself laughing out loud until the whole restaurant turns and looks!
I was in Louisiana at a brunch place with some friends (Who remembers adult names, anyway?) and EVIE!
Evie had, just recently, turned two. She pulled up her dress and showed me her pink fancy pants. She used the edge of the table for a jungle gym.
Sophie, (a beautiful 16-year-old) was sitting next to Evie, TRYING to mind her own business. Except that, Evie decided that Sophie’s chicken and waffles looked WAY BETTER than her own grits.
She didn’t hesitate for a second. She quickly scrambled out of her high chair and right onto Sophie’s lap, diving FACE FIRST into her plate, shouting, “Me, me, me!!!”
She was so STINKIN’ cute! I would’ve taken a video, but she just moved to fast! She had total confidence that Sophie would give her EXACTLY what she wanted.
Evie had more faith in Sophie than we have in God!
Why do we hesitate to approach an infinitely merciful Father, while Evie boldly toddles, without regard, onto a stranger’s lap?
How is it possible, that an unrelated person would give up the very food on their plate? Meanwhile, we assume that God will not even give us what we need to sustain us.
Evie didn’t just want the WAFFLE… she wanted it dipped in syrup! Not just sustenance… but DESIRE!
She innocently believed that she would not be denied the desires of her heart! That’s the FAITH of a child!
I have to admit; Sophie Snider is an amazingly generous person! But, I think it’s time we put God where He belongs, as the ULTIMATE PROVIDER and Father in our lives!
