I went through it ALL with my ex-husband. He had a great job until prescription medications led him to cocaine.

When he didn’t come home, one Friday night, I started calling everyone I knew— including the hospitals.

Friday turned into Saturday—Saturday turned into Sunday.

Then on Sunday night, “the thing” (that didn’t even resemble my husband) burst screaming, through the door: MAD— RAGING— AGGRAVATED— and PARANOID!

Then, came the ENDLESS cycle of abuse, regret, and rehab.

RELAPSE, abuse, regret, rehab—

RELAPSE, broken ribs, regret, rehab—

RELAPSE, herniated disc, regret, bankruptcy, foreclosure, stalking… then finally divorce.

I haven’t talked to him in over 20 years, but I pray he has a good life, now. I know he wasn’t completely to blame because the drugs did something TO him.

Addiction is this absolutely EVIL thing that can sneak up on you. I ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time, married to the wrong person.

That was my fault.

God didn’t plan for me to live under that kind of bondage, bound by that chain of abuse. God had THIS life waiting for me—the whole time!

So, how do we get through?

That’s the value of having the RIGHT kind of people around you to advise, pray, counsel, and encourage you, on a daily basis.   

This addiction thing is tough! But you’re TOUGHER!

Get yourself into a small group at church and stay connected! I know you’re coming out of this!

You’re gonna DO IT!
