We used to have a neighbor with this huge terrifying DOG!
Okay… okay… maybe it wasn’t so big. Maybe it was actually just a medium size fur ball. But it did have a ferocious bark.
It’s funny how we make things we’re afraid of BIGGER than they really are… (or is that just me? Be honest!)
It seemed odd that when we walked by, it always STOPPED COLD at the edge of the grass and never even tried to come up on the sidewalk.
Hmmm… Invisible underground electric fence??? This dog knows his LIMITS!
But here’s an interesting thing.
Even when this dog was in an adjoining yard that DIDN’T have an electric fence, he STILL wouldn’t risk going out past the edge of the lawn.
So… what’s stopping him?
I think he was so conditioned to his LIMITS that he was afraid to venture out any further… especially if there was any chance he might get HURT!
(OUCH! Did that last statement hit home with anyone else but me?)
Sometimes, we build walls and get comfortable living behind our own SELF-IMPOSED limits. (Am I sniffing self-sabotage here?)
- We don’t have the right EDUCATION.
- We were born on the “WRONG side of the tracks.”
- What will “THEY” say about us?
- We just don’t want to get HURT again!
If you’ve looked at your WALL in despair and thought, “Forget it! It’s just too big now.” Please know that it’s not too big for Jesus.
Stand back and allow Him to chip away at that thing you THINK is protecting you from the big, bad world.
Beyond that wall, it’s just a short walk to freedom. Happiness. Connection. LIFE!
What a WASTE it would be if Jesus died for us and we were still confined.
When we accept a life with limits… we’re accepting a life that’s LESS THAN what God intended for us!
Are we going to live for comfort… or live for our CALL?
