I keep telling myself that it’s gonna be okay… but my brain just doesn’t GET IT, yet!
When we’re single, we think we’ll be really happy when we get married. (Yeah… I can hear all you married girls laughing.)
Then we think we HAVE to have a baby. (Because we really need NOT to sleep for 18 years.)
And after we have the husband and kids to deal with, we think we’ll just be glad when he goes to work and the kids are in school.
(At least, we can enjoy eight hours of peace… in a row!)
Then, the kids get older and we think we’ll be so happy when they ALL leave the house.
Why do we have such a problem just enjoying our lives, RIGHT NOW?
I told myself that I was going to be glad when Austin grew up and left home… and he did leave, once before.
But then he came back with his sweet wife, Morgan, and my adorable grandson, Liam.
So when we’re in Florida, we live in the same house, like one big happy family!
But recently, they did the weirdest thing. They went out and bought their OWN house. (What’s up with that?)
Yeah, yeah… I know Austin’s 33 and I need to let go. (Maybe just a little.)
But, they’re gonna leave AGAIN, and I don’t know if I want to stay there without them.
(I might just have to move in with them!)
If we’re good parents, we SHOULD be happy that we’ve raised independent adults capable of functioning on their own.
Oh well. I’m just gonna miss ‘em!
Kids grow up. Life goes on. God’s still on the Throne. And we can enjoy our lives and be HAPPY… right where we are.
(Hmmm… I wonder what Ashtyn’s doin’ tonight?)
