“I knew you were a jerk when I saw you.”

OUCH… that stung! Who does Mr. Snippy Head think he is…  calling me a jerk? 

You know how you can tell somebody has an attitude towards you? Well, that was this guy! I could even hear his ‘tude in his emails. 

(Seriously, what was up with him?) What did I ever do to him?!

I was a struggling single mama just starting a brand-new job with this healthcare company.

This guy was in my department and he was just so… UUGGHH!!! He was the worst!

Then one day, I was waiting on an email from him with info I really needed. 

Oh great! I didn’t want to have to go to HIM to get my answer. Finally, he responded. But, it was NOTHING like I expected.

“I’m sorry, today I’m just raining on the inside.”

WHAT? Wait a minute! That’s Amy Grant. I know Amy Grant’s music! I quickly emailed him back with the next line of the song. 

The next thing I knew, we were having a friendly conversation and became office buddies!

After a while, I finally decided to get a little vulnerable. “You know; you sure gave me a hard time when I first started here.”

“Yeah,” he said. “Maybe I was wrong. I got used to you.”

There’s POWER in sharing our vulnerability. 

He let his guard down and found out we had A LOT in common. I let down my wall, and we became fast friends.

God is just waiting for us to spend some time, come close, and trust that we can open our hearts to Him about anything!
