How could God ask me to do that? Doesn’t He know how much that’s going to hurt me?
(Here’s a little backstory.)
I didn’t meet my biological dad until I was 17 years old. When I finally contacted him, we talked and I really felt like I got to know him.
It was an incredible feeling!
He even started calling me, occasionally… but he was always drunk! That went on and on until my husband finally told me that I didn’t have to take it anymore.
I understood where he was coming from. But, it felt like such a loss in my heart! How can I bear to lose this relationship with my dad… AGAIN?
I wanted to find him, restore our relationship, and really make sure he knew Jesus. But, The Lord had other plans.
God told me, “I’m not gonna let you do that. Instead, the time you lost with your dad… I’m going to restore as time with your children.”
How could He make a promise like that?
My kids were already in the process of leaving! They were, literally, in the middle of moving out!
Just 18 months later, we bought a new house and invited the kids to stay with us. (And they said, “YES!”)
So, for the next two years, I got to spend EVERY morning with, not just my husband and daughter, but with my son, my daughter-in-love, and my GRANDSON!
It was like Heaven on Earth!
When we surrender our plans in favor of God’s, what He pays back is so much MORE precious than anything we think we’re giving up!
God’s blessings are always way beyond anything we could have ever hoped for!
