I just got off of my elliptical machine. (It’s NOT my favorite thing!)
But this time of year, I know ALL the holiday parties are coming up and I DON’T want to have to wear my old maternity pants to work!
So it seems like I’m continually making some kind of BODY or FITNESS goal; whether it’s skipping sweets, avoiding fried foods or just working out more.
Accountability is Good
Personally, I think it holds me more accountable when I DECLARE my goals out loud.
But I’ve found that’s much more difficult to do when my mouth is FULL of a big, gooey, chocolate chip cookie!!!
The more I repeat my declarations while eating a treat or avoiding a workout, the LONGER it takes me to REALIZE my goal.
Unfortunately, that’s the result when our ACTIONS don’t match up with our WORDS.
Realignment
James 2:14 in the Message Bible has some wisdom in this area.
“Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything?”
“Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it?”
If we HONESTLY expect to receive what we’re believing for in life, our actions have to LINE UP with what our mouth is declaring.
Many times, our actions do speak WAY louder than our words. So we have to ask ourselves, what have our ACTIONS been saying?
Grab hold of those dreams and goals!
Let’s commit to align our actions with our words so we can gain ground…and gain it quickly!
