Basically, I haven’t cut my hair since 1999. It’s not a religious thing. I watched that movie, “You’ve Got Mail” with Meg Ryan and thought she was SO adorable!
I ran out and cut my hair just like hers, a cute little bob cut!
I obviously failed to consider that she was five-foot-nothin’ and weighed 100 pounds, soaking wet! Me, on the other hand… I am an Amazon!
If we ever meet in person, you will undoubtedly say, “You’re so TALL!” (It’s okay… everyone does!)
The follow-up question is usually, “Did you play basketball?” or “Were you a model?”
I’m no model. More like a human giraffe!
One day in late 1999 (post-haircut) I was at my job, wearing my black business pantsuit. Someone walked up behind me, tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Excuse me, sir.”
SIR! Sir? Seriously???
And so… my hair has been growing ever since.
Not long ago, I remember thinking. GOSH, my hair hasn’t been this long since…
And that’s when, all-of-a-sudden, I felt like all the air got SUCKED out of me! The memory was just that powerful!
My first husband was addicted to drugs. I’d lost my marriage, my house, my job, my credit, my furniture, my self-respect, and any concept that I was a human being worthy of love.
It was the WORST time in my life!
Beware. Once the numbness covering the pain of your past wears off… you’ll begin feeling again. Then, it may not take much to spook you.
STUPID long hair!!!
That’s just the enemy trying to trip your TRIGGER and make you feel those old feelings all over again!
