Being broken hurts!
I was a cheerleader in high school, and we were training for the National Competition. (That’s huge to a teenager.)
It was going to be our year! Until… my shin started hurting so bad. I couldn’t even stand to walk on it. (NOT what you want to happen in the middle of cheer season!)
I finally went to a doctor, and he wanted an x-ray.
Come to find out, I had a stress fracture. UGH! Are you kidding me?! Who knew you could break your leg just by jumping on it too many times???
Well, because of the fracture, I was DONE with practice. Sidelined. Broken. Useless. My team was sooooo upset with me. But more than anything … I was upset with me!
I was broken and it looked like things would never be the same.
• What would happen after it healed?
• Could I even go back to cheering?
• Was it always just going to be a weak spot?
I really didn’t want to break my leg all over again. One time was more than enough for me, thanks.
Then my doctor told me something I did NOT see coming. When a bone heals, that area becomes stronger than everywhere else.
I would actually be stronger and better in that healed place than I was before it was broken!
God does the same thing with our lives. He picks up the pieces of our broken lives and creates something better, stronger and more beautiful than we could ever imagine.
Where we were broken… we become stronger than before and we won’t break like that again!
