Once upon a time, I considered giving up Christmas altogether! Can you believe it?

Yes, ME… Buddy the Elf! 

The craziness of my childhood and the pre-teen cruelty of the kids at school was SO painful that it caused me to act up at home. 

Just days before Christmas, I managed to get myself grounded to my room in the basement. 

Oh great. 

The family room was just outside my bedroom door, so I could hear the Christmas television specials and all the other kids laughing.

All I could think was, “WHY are you having so much fun while I’m locked away in here, hurting so bad?” 

Everyone around me was happy… saccharine-sweet levels of happy… while my insides were melting away with pain, fear, and shame!

So, I decided to just boycott those people, their tree, and their stupid Christmas cheer. I had poured out every ounce of myself and still found myself SHUT OUT and shut down! 

“That’s it, Family Christmas,” I decided, “I’m done with you and this holiday! You only make me feel more alone!”

I didn’t want to talk to anyone… INCLUDING God!

How was I supposed to talk to Him, anyway, when I was in a place of hurt and didn’t even know what to say?

Be prepared. This holiday season, the enemy wants to CUT OFF all your communication with the Almighty.

He will try anything to steal your Christmas, your family time, and ANYTHING that brings you joy! 

Make sure to set aside some time, daily, to spend with your Heavenly Father! 

It’s okay to be a Cotton-Headed Ninny-Muggins!

Refuse to be offended and don’t allow the enemy to SHUT you OUT!
