I am a UNICORN. . .

(Yeah, it’s true. Weird enough to be almost fictional.  Did you catch the ALMOST?  #unicornsarereal in my head.)

It used to freak me out. But the fact of the matter is… I’m just NOT like anybody else.

I’ve always been a little… different. (But then, you probably already knew that.)

I know how to operate a backhoe. Yes, really! I can dig you a swimming pool. Nails and all.

Or, I could play you something classical on the piano. A bit rusty and out of practice. But 12 years of playing – it’s in there somewhere.

I can change out a door lock, lay ceramic tile, or estimate a construction job… down to the last dollar. Does it surprise you that I like HGTV? (Ok, that part of me is normal?!?)

I can throw together a cute outfit for you… except I would do it off the clearance rack. Complete with garage sale jewelry and accessories! (I’m fa-rugal)

Or, negotiate a high-dollar real estate deal for the church, over lunch. (Frugal pays off there, too. lol)

Most of my jobs were male dominated… so I got weird looks as I traipsed into the room in heels.

Does that make me odd? Sure.

I used to worry about what others were saying or thinking about me, mainly because I just wanted to be ACCEPTED and fit in.

I wasn’t like the other moms at school. I couldn’t be a room mother because I was always working, traveling, and preaching for Jesus!

No matter how hard I always TRY to fit in, the Lord purposefully, did not make me a round peg. (I guess, I’m just oval… or maybe square!)

Are you kinda like me? Pointy edges? Lol

This I know… we can’t force things to work the way we want. Life only FITS when we’re IN God.

In fact, our differences are exactly what sets us apart from the crowd. That’s our PLATFORM!

You’re not an accident. A coincidence. Or a mistake. Your assignment isn’t like anyone else.

What makes you awkward, in this stage of life, is what makes you perfect for what God is calling you to!

Being a unicorn is almost never easy. (The horn can be hard to fit in an elevator…) Just embrace who YOU are!

God NEEDS you! The world needs you!

What makes you a little peculiar… is what makes you absolutely NECESSARY!
