Last night we had our yearly staff Christmas party.
It’s usually at the same restaurant every year. Family style Italian food, David and I encourage the staff for a few minutes, we give presents and exchange secret santa gifts and do whatever the fun team chant, cheer, or fad is for the year together.
And then this year, something different happened.
During the staff mannequin challenge, suddenly one of the staff members had a microphone. He was crouching behind another staffer down on one knee. He called her name once, twice, and a third time before she broke competitive mannequin challenge form to see what he wanted.
That’s when he asked her to walk through the rest of life next to him and as her family slipped in the side doors to watch, he asked her to marry him.
She was…shocked. Freaked out, in the best way. She screamed a little and then squeaked and cried a little too.
The girl who got engaged had just returned from the funeral of a family member just days before and a spirit of heaviness had been stalking her. We all thought we knew what last night was going to be, but it was so much better.
I think that’s why God says that His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. (Isaiah 55:8) He doesn’t think like we do, because He can see tomorrow. He sees the good that is about to happen that we are clueless about as we walk through the (mannequin) challenge of the moment or remember the loss of yesterday.
The benefits of being able to see tomorrow and beyond. We can’t but He can and He is leading and guiding us.
No matter what happened yesterday. No matter the challenge of today. There is your Father in heaven looking out for you, making plans for you, and leading you towards those plans. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a good future and a hope! (Jeremiah 29:11)
If you believe that NO MATTER WHAT is happening, God’s plans of blessing for you have not changed – can you give me a faith-filled AMEN?
PS – Congratulations Adrienne and Daniel!!!!
Amen

Thank you! I needed this, as I am leaving a job this week and starting a new job next week. I am/ was afraid of journey, full of emotions leaving behind the friends I made. I know the new job will be better for me.

Another timely word. I really appreciate it. Putting one step in front of another holding on to faith and wielding weapons against fear and depression. There is hope. God is for us. He has good plans. Life changing, heart changing, mind changing, circumstance changing plans. I have to believe it. AMEN
