On my way to speak at a Casa de Dios, a HUGE mega-church in Guatemala, I kept trying to roll down my window.
I told my driver (a cute little soccer mom), “Hey, my window won’t roll down. I think the child lock is on.”
She calmly assured me, “Oh, it’s not a child lock. This car is bulletproof.”
WHAT?
“Why does the church own a BULLETPROOF car?” I said.
She answered, “Oh, the church DOESN’T. This is MY car!”
(Now — you know I just had to ask.)
“Why do YOU have a bulletproof car?”
She smiled and replied, “This is Guatemala.”
Are you kidding me?
In such a beautiful country with these warm, friendly people—you have to drive a bulletproof car? How did I get here in the middle of this MESS?
Ever felt like that? Ever wonder, “How did I get here?”
We can’t control where we’re born. We can’t pick who our parents are.
My biological dad gave me up BEFORE I was even born. And then, there was rape, molestation, abuse, and divorce—all things that I couldn’t control.
Maybe there were things that happened to you that you had NO CONTROL over. (I get it!)
Maybe you feel like your life’s a mess— and all that’s left is RUINS? (Been there— done that—designed the t-shirt!) Lol
The fact is, you’re probably not even aware of the fabulous PLAN that God has for your life! I know, I wasn’t.
Jesus sees beauty in our ashes. He sees our DESTINY in the things that we might want to walk away from.
And suddenly—God turns our ruins into something BEAUTIFUL!
