Made a New Year’s RESOLUTION or scribbled down some GOALS this year? Yeah, me too. I get really excited about doing that every year.
One of my goals and resolutions every year always has to do with fitness, my body, LIVING LONG, living STRONG. I resolve for things like good blood pressure, for my cholesterol numbers to stay on TARGET, and for my body to be to fit.
Just Say It
I’m really good at saying: “I will be FIT in the name of Jesus. I will live long and strong on the earth. And 10 years post-pregnancy, I am going to lose that last stinkin’ five pounds of baby weight!” (Ummmm, finally??)
“I know that God is going to supply all of my needs according to His riches and glory, and He is going to BLESS my body in the areas that I am asking Him to bless it.”
But then I see some ice cream and get WEAK. And it doesn’t look like I am on the right road – I know that because my loving hubby calls me out. Don’t cringe. It’s ok. I ask him too! #accountability
You know why he can call me out with no reservations?
Because ACTIONS speak louder than WORDS.
Actions Talk
I can talk all I want, but unless I ACT, my resolutions and goals are WORTHLESS.
People may doubt what you say is going to happen in your life when you say what you are going to do, but they are not going to doubt it when you walk away from that big slice of peach pie. (Pray for me!)
They are not going to doubt it when you turn away from the gossip in the office lounge. They are not going to doubt it when you start weaning yourself from that bad habit. (You can do it!)
“For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.” James 2:26
This January, don’t just TALK about your resolutions. ACT on them.
Prayer For The Day
Lord, as I jot down my resolutions and goals for 2014, give me the motivation to tackle the areas in my life that need improving. Let my actions speak louder to those around me than my words.
Pastor Nicole… My beautiful friend,
You look amazing! Don’t get bogged down with 5 lbs.
I got sick 10 years ago with several issues at one time. Had a parasite get into my skin. It was my affliction of Job. I looked absolutely horrible and lost everything but my kids. I used to get wiggy over 5 lbs, now I’m grateful I am well and have no scares.
We women put too much stress on our selves . God made is to be curvy, embrace them. My Sister in Christ you are Beautiful!
Thank you for these sweet, encouraging words my friend!
Amen! Pastor Nicole!!! I already had a weak moment in 2014 and its ONLY January 2nd!!! I have not set STRONG goals for myself as of yet either because I can “say” a ton of things as you said, but I want to ACT on those areas that truly need improvement!
Words without actions are merely words. Goals for me have to be spoken and written and yet somehow to be honest I fail at some of the goals I make. So, each year I strive to reach more of the goals than I did last year. Bring on 2014…New Year, New Life!
Go get it this year!!
