Ooooops! Did I just say that out loud?
Have you ever caught yourself letting words escape your mouth… without totally thinking about them?
I mean, they may have seemed okay, at the time. But, maybe you were mad or hurt when you said them?
(Ummm… guilty!)
What power! We have this incredible ability to positively (or negatively) shape our OWN relationships with the words we speak. To build up or tear down.
So WHAT, exactly, have we been saying lately?
- You’re driving me CRAZY!
- You NEVER…
- You ALWAYS…
- I CAN’T do this with you!
- You’re SUCH a…
- Is this ever going to WORK?
Does this cause us to fall MORE in love… or leave us feeling like we have verbal knives in us?
Will letting our tongues loose build the lives we want?
The Bible says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
We can burn our relationships down with CARELESS words, or… we can heal and build!
Even the most powerful transaction in the universe, our SALVATION, takes place as a result of our own words!
During World War II, the U.S. Government actually had an ad campaign designed to warn citizens about how their innocent conversations might divulge information that our enemies could use AGAINST us.
That’s where we get the phrase, “Loose Lips Sink Ships!”
Today, we have an enemy who goes about SEEKING whose relationship he may destroy. Meanwhile, our own careless words may be SUPPLYING him with all the ammunition he needs!
What??? WHOSE side are we on, anyway?
What we believe and what we SAY are more powerful than we realize… even if we are just joking.
So if you don’t want to SINK your own relationships…
ZIP IT!!! Until you have something nice to say!
And when you do think of something nice to say – text it before you forget! lol
Don’t allow “loose lips” to curse yourself and the ones you love!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
