Before our wedding day, I told David that I needed to talk to him about money.
He said, “Awww… single mom. I bet you have money problems. I’ll take care of you!”
“Ummm, honey. That’s not the conversation I wanted to have.”
I was doing pretty good in the corporate world, and my income wasn’t really reflected in the way I was living. I was a generous person and gave a decent amount away and I wanted to make sure he was ok with that. And, when I told him how much money I was making, he said, “Baby, I love you! I don’t think we need a prenup.” Lol! Not the convo David thought he was in for!
But after we were married, I felt like God wanted me to quit my job, give up the big salary, and help out at church. It was another conversation about money that I was scared to have with David. But this time, I was surprised. God had spoken the same thing to Him.
It didn’t make ANY sense in the natural. It was a whole, HUGE step of faith.
His daddy’s church couldn’t afford to pay me. So for the next four years I just worked for Jesus and got paid nothing.
(Wait! Was it really for nothing?)
Then all of a sudden, David’s daddy unexpectedly went to Heaven. ‘WHAT are we going to do now?’
David’s dad taught us a saying, ‘with God it’s never for less, it’s always for more’.
I couldn’t see it at the time, but God had purposely placed me on the front row of Bible School for four years, learning The Word and showing me how to help run a church.
God knew the PLANS He had for me and was going out ahead, preparing me for my FUTURE!
