How RUDE!!!
Some guy on the street saw our friend and called him EVERY name in the book… right in front of his family!
David and I were having lunch with this guy who just got out of prison after almost 9 years!
He was about to respond. You know, just a traffic finger and a choice WORD or two – to put that loud mouth in his place.
But just in the nick of time, he felt this CHECK in his spirit. “Wait! What would God want me to do?”
I guess all that Bible reading in prison really DID get into his heart and he passed on the opportunity to react badly.
He’d found God while doing time in prison, and now… he’d PASSED the test!
When we’re STRONG in the Lord, we can control how we respond, even in a bad situation.
But, if we’re weak in the Lord and strong in TIREDNESS and running on EMPTY – chances are, that we’ll think about what we did, later, and not feel very good about it.
It doesn’t take any strength to tell people exactly what you think. But it DOES take strength to refrain from a gut-reaction move of emotion and operate in the LOVE of God!
I believe God wants to PROMOTE you. But in order to promote you, He needs to be able to TRUST your reactions.
Are we being GOOD neighbors to those around us?
When in doubt, think about, “If the positions were reversed, how would WE want them to respond to US?”
