What’s the mask for? The answer might surprise you.

October’s here and we think it’s just normal to see people with something over their face.

But honestly, most of us wear MASKS every day that are a little more difficult to see. (No, I’m not talking about makeup! But you’re not that far off.)

We get up in the morning, brush our hair and teeth, trying to make ourselves presentable to go out in public, and with it… we put on our “face.”

The FACE we show people that seems so confident, when inside, we know that we’re just hoping to pull it off, today.

You know that guy at work that annoys you a little because he is just SO…eager, kinda cocky, and always trying to get all the good opportunities?

What if I told you that he wasn’t confident at all?

He’s really trying to wear confidence as a mask and that’s why it doesn’t read “real.” He’s working so hard to prove (even to himself) that he can do it. That he’s good enough’.

I don’t know who told him that he wasn’t.

Maybe someone didn’t pay attention to him when he was younger. Perhaps he was teased by other kids. So now, he wears a mask of FALSE confidence trying to live up to the task.

He needs to feel “good enough.”

He wants to feel “wanted.”

I know how that feels… because that was ME, too.

Because of some of the jacked up things in my childhood, here’s me, trying to prove to the world that I AM good enough to be loved, invited, needed, and noticed.

Over and over again, it’s a vicious cycle that never seems to end. The enemy LOVES it!

There’s a cycle breaker… His name is JESUS. It took me a long time to even let Him in deep enough to hear His words of love, acceptance, and affirmation.

And then to BELIEVE them.

Our natural brain goes to work looking for examples to confirm what our brain ALREADY believes. So it takes statements out of context and bends them to reaffirm a limiting belief.

Jesus BREAKS that limit!

HEAR ME. He WANTS you, just the way you are – before the mask. He NEEDS you to believe it, so that you’ll lift your head up, in faith, and believe that you are what He MADE you to be.

Because you actually ALREADY are. He just wants you to step into it!

You ARE wanted!
