When Austin was in first grade, I noticed that he started to get STINKY! I know, when boys grow up they get smelly…but he was still so young.
I was just a single mom trying my best to be a GOOD mom. But, I didn’t really know what to do.
One day, I picked Austin up from school. Even though, it was January and freezing outside; as soon as he got in the car I HAD to roll the windows down because he smelled SO BAD!
I asked him, “What in the world is going on? You SMELL! Are you brushing your teeth? Let me smell your armpits.”
(Only a mama, will stick her nose in an armpit ON PURPOSE!)
He came clean.
“Well, Mom, I WANTED to tell you. A little while ago, I put a cotton ball in my nose…and I couldn’t get it out.”
I said, “That’s okay, Sweetie. HOW LONG AGO was that? “
He said, “I don’t know…maybe a couple of months?”
A couple of MONTHS? YIKES!!!
When the doctor, finally, reached up in there with those long, alligator tweezers and pulled it out…OH MY!!! Everyone else had to clear the room!
Just like OUR moms; we’re busy juggling homes, careers, and relationships the very best we can.
We’re all trying to be THE GOOD MOM: loving our kids, step-kids…sometimes, even the neighbor’s kids.
Stop beating yourself up. Stop feeling inadequate or guilty. You’re doing GREAT!
God is, ultimately, in control! We can’t do this alone!
Be thankful, that His angels have total charge over our children, 24/7. Because, when we’re not looking…they’re probably shoving cotton balls up their noses!
Have a Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!
