When Ashtyn was a little girl, I asked her to give me a ‘kissie’. She promptly turned away, made a face, crossed her arms and said loudly, “NO!”
What?!?!? So I told her, in a laughing tone, “Look here little girl, it doesn’t cost you anything to kiss me and your Momma wants a kiss – so give it up girl!”
Right then God whispered to my heart…
Acknowledge the King. It doesn’t cost a thing. The way you long for Ashtyn’s affection, is also how I long for the affection of My Children.
Who do we acknowledge?
– Our friends: “Whassup dawg?”
– Our boss: “Good Morning, Sir.”
– Our parents: Whether in love or with an attitude.
– The police: Because we know the consequences if we don’t!
– Our God: Mostly when we need something from Him.
Sometimes it’s just “easy” to ignore that voice inside
God loves us dearly. He’s always talking to us. So why do we put off spending time with Him and ignore His whispers?
Acknowledge the King. It doesn’t cost a thing.
God wants to be acknowledged because He LOVES us so MUCH
Do not profane my Holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Leviticus 22:32
If it’s THAT IMPORTANT TO ME to have my daughter acknowledge me, then since God considers me HIS child, IT MUST BE that important TO HIM.
LET’S MAKE GOD FEEL IMPORTANT BY ACKNOWLEDGING HIM ALL DAY LONG. Do you struggle to do that? I’d love to hear your challenges in the blog comments section!
Thank you Pastor Nicole. This was a great message . I don’t feel loved and appreciated by my grown children and continue to do things for them and show unconditional love which my father showed me. He went on to be with the Lord 12 years ago but I was very blessed to have a father that showed me that. So this is true. I must look to God and love from the heart despite what the world is doing and feeling hurt. He looks at the heart.
Have a blessed day.
Karen – You are so right! He does look at our hearts!
For a long time I was angry at God because I watched others get their hearts desire and it seemed like He was indifferent to my needs. That anger kept me from church and people who genuinely cared. While I still believed and prayed, I couldn’t see that the promises of God were for me also. Slowly, after years, I began to release that anger and understand its root. Then last year my heart was cruelly broken. My confidence was breached. Things were said to people I hadn’t met but respected and wanted them to like me and I could do nothing without compounding the drama. This time, I knew that God was continually for me and I praised him through tears many days. Now, I’m seeing doors open that I never dreamed – favor from unexpected places! In a few weeks I will be in Saudi Arabia for a year, a place where even mentioning the name of Jesus as Lord is a crime punishable by death. No matter. I know who I am in Him and I can praise His name continually in my heart!
I fail to acknowledge Him because sometimes I’m just running from Him….when I feel like I have failed…when I knowingly sinned….I don’t know how to go to Him…I don’t know how I can go to Him and expect mercy and grace when I knowingly sinned….so I don’t….and I don’t acknowledge Him….I break fellowship….I don’t know how to acknowledge Him in these moments.
Mindy – because of Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross, we never have to worry about going to God. Even in moments when we have stumbled. Jesus came to make a way for us to approach the Father. In those moments, just take one step towards Him and He’ll come meet you wherever you are. Be encouraged – He is for you no matter what!
Thanks for the reminder. I often get busy in my day and need to just remember how important it is for me to recognize my father throughout the day both in my actions and my deeds so that I can be a light unto others.
Great blog this week pastor Nicole I loved it. I acknowledge god every morning before I leave the house and every night before I go to bed. I don’t struggle with acknowledging God because I have a routine of acknowledging him and thanking him for all the blessings that he has put in my life like my wonderful family and my awesome friends. God I acknowledge you today thank you for loving me and watching over me and for answering my prayers your an amazing god
