I am not coordinated.
It’s a terrible thing to say.
But I understand my limitations.
I am never going to be able to ride a unicycle.
Or do BMX tricks.
I am never going to be the CIA agent.
Although in my head, the government really wants me to be one. I often daydream they are right around the corner ready to make me a crazy offer.
Maybe they want to entice me to go on an amazingly dangerous spy mission? Nope.
Instead… true story, I’m the waitress in the restaurant trying to squeeze through the door when the weight of it tipped my tray (full of some hungry family’s dinner) directly to the floor.
There they were… food, broken plates, and my pride, all over my pants, my shoes and the floor. Good thing the restaurant owner came over and yelled at me in front of everyone — otherwise I’m not sure that I would have noticed I had blown it!
So as I think about what daily life requires in terms of juggling schedules, responsibilities, priorities, time with God, time for me (does that even exist?) and time for family and friends, I know that my coordination skills will be tested!
How about you?
Are your days well-planned, right on time and flawlessly executed? I didn’t think so.
Why didn’t I think so? Because I know life throws us unexpected curve balls!
Just when I think I have everything balanced and flowing smoothly, here comes some big heavy thing that is way of out balance with everything else. Then KABOOM! Everything comes crashing to the floor.
The important thing is that we try again.
Like when I dropped the tray in the restaurant, I had to pick everything up. I had to clean up the mess. And I had to do it as quickly as possible.
The same is true in our lives. We’ve got to pick up everything, clean the mess as quickly as possible and get the order going again as quickly as we can. After all, someone is depending on us.
Of course, we will occasionally drop the ball (or the tray).
Maybe we are trying to juggle too much — or for too long.
Every once in a while, we may just get tired and take our eye off the ball.
Then there are those times when some wise guy will throw something into the mix… something we are not expecting.
Don’t lose heart! The Bible says,
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. — Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
If the juggler quit the circus when she dropped the ball, she would be in for a very short career.
God knows what is coming your way today. He is ready to help you through it!
Even if you fall, He has already forgiven you. So forgive yourself and move on.
These are the types of things we are talking about at this year’s women’s conference in St Louis.
The Circus 2012 is all about juggling life, making sense of the three ring circus and not letting the seemingly death defying acts we have to go through get us down.
I want to personally invite you to be a part of this 2-day event.
The tickets are inexpensive. The itinerary is exciting and awe inspiring. And God has a plan to encourage you there!

I never thought when I grew up I would be a a juggler….I am though! I juggle things every day and it is my hope that I keep them all in the air!!!
Love it! I love that saying, “If God brought you to it, He’ll bring you through it.” You do what you can do and God will do what you cannot do! See you at The Circus 🙂
