Ever thought that things just weren’t going your way, that life was hard and you wondered where God was in the whole big mess???? Me too.
Turns out we aren’t alone. I was reading 2 Kings 3 about these kings who headed to war and ended up in the desert for 7 days WITHOUT WATER.
They thought they were going to DIE! I’ve thought I was going to die of thirst before just on the ride home from work…
The kings inquired of The Lord (through Elisha) and He told them to DIG ditches. Ditches to hold water that would come without rain….WHAT??? Sometimes it seems like God’s plan doesn’t make sense.
BUT they were OBEDIENT anyway.
The Big Setup
In the morning, the enemy looked at their camp and saw the ditches full of water, but they looked like they were full of BLOOD!
So the enemy didn’t head to the camp ready to fight. Instead, they headed in to take all their stuff, totally UNPREPARED, and were easily defeated!
Seven days of no water originally looked like death, but it was really a SETUP from God to WIN MOR EASILY.
Obedience Makes The Difference
It was their OBEDIENCE to dig the ditches that brought life and victory!!!!
If the water hadn’t been in the ditches, the enemy would’ve come ready for war and MANY would have died.
Instead, the good guys were just thirsty for a few days and the enemy was SLAUGHTERED!!!
Are You THIRSTY Enough?
Sometimes when God is setting us up to win, it may not FEEL so good at first.
But the kings had to be THIRSTY enough to dig the ditches, otherwise they would have died.
It was never about God lacking provision or grace for them. It was all about Him POSITIONING them to win!!!
God is setting us up to MISS the battle, MISS the fight and MISS the war that could cause casualties on our side.
We are coming out victorious WITHOUT having to fight the big battle!!!!

So true Pastor Nicole! Sometimes we just have to allow time for our answers to come. Eagerly anticipating all God is doing in my life. Should be an interesting journey.
God often stretches me and I wonder how I will ever do it but then remember its not through me its through him!! 🙂
