Absolutely…YES!
If we aren’t praying for SUCCESS, what’s the alternative? Are we going to pray for God to make us a FAILURE?
When our success HONORS God and HELPS people, then there’s nothing selfish about it.
“And God can give you more blessings than you need. Then you will always have plenty of everything—enough to give to every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NCV)
Taking Account
Where are we right NOW?
- Spiritually?
- Financially?
- Emotionally?
- Relationally?
- Physically?
- Occupationally?
What areas do we want to CHANGE or improve upon?
Let’s start to pray SPECIFICALLY about what we want to see happen.
Success Defined
I remember when we first decided to go on ABC; we envisioned having a time slot somewhere near Joel Osteen’s Sunday morning program.
David actually cut the TV listings out of the newspaper, circled the time in RED and taped it to our refrigerator.
Every time he got hungry (which was quite often) he would remember to PRAY expressly over that time slot.
Since we were praying for a particular outcome, it was easy to RECOGNIZE our SUCCESS when that exact time slot became available and was offered to us, first.
Success Is Our Testimony
If our idea of success is easily attainable, then it’s probably NOT God.
God enjoys getting ALL the credit.
That’s why He usually gives us dreams that are WAY TOO BIG for us to possibly accomplish on our own.
If our life achievements continue to glorify God, I’m sure He’s totally okay with us praying for MORE SUCCESS!
Didn’t know what your blog was today but as I drove today I was thinking of every area of my life and how God is stretching me and asking him to guide me in the areas that I need to change. God has the most amazing timing!
Thank you so much for this, Pastor Nicole! It always surprises me when people say, you can’t pray for this or, you shouldn’t pray for that. As our Father, it’s crazy to me that people don’t think He cares and wants to give us every good thing. Why wouldn’t we ask Him?!? This was worded beautifully!!
