Have you ever told your kids to follow you, and then they didn’t? And you got separated and you freaked out? I have.
One time when Ashtyn was about three, she got bored while I was shopping and decided to get in the middle of a rounder full of clothes and play there. I looked around and couldn’t see her and started yelling her name.
She didn’t answer and I started moving faster and panicking a little bit. Then my armpits started sweating. I’m just being real.
When I found her, she was just tired and bored. She couldn’t keep up at that pace. She couldn’t easily follow me.
Jesus tells us THREE TIMES in a row that following Him isn’t a cakewalk. (In Matthew 8:19-24, you should read it below. It literally takes one minute).
I Wanted The Easy Life
Somehow we get the misconception that becoming a Christ-follower means that life becomes all sunshine and flowers. But if it is all sunshine and no wind or rain, it just gets hot and a drought happens, nothing grows and eventually everything dies.
Persecution is hot on the trail of blessing. You get blessed, someone gets jealous. The enemy is jealous regardless, and he strikes out – or at least tries to distract.
God constantly asks us to step out in faith, which is ALWAYS beyond where we are comfortable.
So the question is this: If we are tired, and unsure, and under fire – will we still follow Him?
Say Yes!
The benefits, the promises, the blessings far outweigh the moments where our faith is stretched and actually GROWS in these moments.
If you have a storm brewing and you think Jesus is sleeping down below….FOLLOW HIM! The boat never sinks when He is in it!
Matthew 8:19-24 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Then another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. NKJV
An exceedingly great post. This inotrmafive article sums up for me personally exactly what this subject depends upon plus some from the important benefits that can be caused by being aware of it as should you. A friend as soon as remarked that you have a totally different way of thinking whenever you do something for certain as opposed to when youre simply just toying by using it. When it comes to this kind of topic, I believe you are taking, or start to think of, a more professional in addition to comprehensive approach to both what and just how you are writing, which in turn allows you to carry on and get much better as well as manual others who dont know anything about what you’ve shared right here. Thanks.
