When I get to go to one of the GOOD department stores, I always try to buy a little something because I like to keep their fancy bags.
Honestly, I don’t usually shop at those stores because I’m too cheap! If you’ve ever tried to buy salt and pepper shakers in one of those places, they’re like a hundred bucks! (The same thing is just $4.99 at Walmart!)
But, I like to use my fancy bags to take my lunch to work. It fits my little salad container, I can put a sandwich in it, or my fruit and yogurt. And… it’s CUTE!
If I left my nice bag out, no one would ever try to steal it. Because, even though it’s a really cool container, nobody wants it because it’s empty. It has no value!
You see, we get all tripped up when we look at ourselves and start to think that we have no value, that we’re not worthy. Everybody’s got container issues!
The enemy is continually beating up on us. He’s telling us everything that we’re not. He’s magnifying our mistakes and he’s making them look bigger than they are!
2 Corinthians 4:7 says, “But we have this treasure in Jars of Clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”
It’s not about the container. It’s about the contents. It’s all about God and the TREASURE He’s deposited in us!
We ARE valuable! Our value comes from the precious God within us. It’s what’s INSIDE that counts!

I love to keep the store bags! What’s your favorite container? Do you have a special tote, mug, coin bank, or jewelry box? Tell me about your favorite place to stash your treasures!
Thank you Pastor Nicole for this message. Sometimes I doubt myself on the things that I can do or that I should be doing that I no God has called me to do. My containers are bags & cups.
Watching this right now! Great message! I have certainly been there, but praise God for His grace.
AMEN this helps me tremendously!
Thank you for reminding me about how God see us and another person.
I don’t store treasures given me. I prefer to use them by giving them away to others who need them for one reason or another.
Sometimes they are material items, but most recently I’ve taken to give am ear to someone who just needs to be heard. Perhaps a bit wisdom to some in the middle of a difficult decision. Or my favorite, a tender word of appreciation for someone who’s not feeling much love. I guess you could say my favorite place to store my treasures is in other people.
Amen! I needed to hear this today! Thank you Nicole for all your valuable teachings! I thoroughly get bless by everyone of them! God bless and love youxx
