When Ashtyn was seven years old, she decided that cheerleading was too boring and she wanted in on the REAL action. So, she signed up to play basketball.
That’s great… except for one thing. She was a very “girly girl” and had never even touched a basketball before!
At her first game, she dribbled waist-high, then knee-high, then, well… not at all. She dropped the ball and it went rolling right between her legs.
I don’t think Steph Curry (Ayesha’s hubby) has anything to worry about. Lol
Guess what I did? I clapped and cheered and yelled in my embarrassing, booming mom voice, “Go Ashtyn… GO!!!”
She’s my BABY! I don’t expect her to be perfect. I know she’s gonna mess up and make mistakes. And sometimes, she’s gonna drop the ball.
My love for Ashtyn is not based on her performance in basketball, school, or in life. I just LOVE her! And nothing (no thing) can ever change that!
God is OUR Father. He knows we’re gonna have bad days and do stupid stuff. But NONE of that affects His love for us.
He loves us UNCONDITIONALLY! He’s incapable of anything else!
I know that can be really hard to believe, especially if you grew up with parents that were hard to please. But God’s love is so much BIGGER than human love!
YOU’RE the baby! God thinks everything you do is so cute, even when you mess up and drop the ball.
He’s cheering your every move and yelling down from Heaven in His big unapologetic voice, “Go baby… GO!!!”

Have you, recently, dropped the ball in some area of your life? I know I have. (Show me a raised hand so I’m not alone!) Let’s talk about it.
I want all my Wake, Pray, Slay friends to share a special moment with me, Thursday morning January 30th, at 7:00 AM (CST), on Facebook LIVE! Help me CELEBRATE the release of my NEW Book, “Hi God, One More Thing”. I can’t wait to see what you think!
