Have you ever wondered whether or not your significant other would stay through the nonsense you put them through?
At the time, it didn’t seem like nonsense to you, AT ALL. But, I’m really surprised I didn’t end up divorced after those three weeks. Lol
Here’s the SCOOP!
I remember when my son, Austin, moved out of our house in St. Louis. After being a home-schooled kid, he went to live with his biological dad and go to high school in Texas.
To him – a reasonable request. To me – world ROCKING!!!!
My BABY!!!! What OTHER parent? I mean, aren’t I your WHOLE world????? (Remember, I mentioned nonsense?)
I was fit to be tied! And I have to admit, it took me a few weeks to get my sanity back!
My baby was GONE!!!
I’d already forgotten about all the poopy diapers and was wishing for those little wet kisses, again. Except he was a teenager now – none of that even existed anymore.
As a parent, I couldn’t even begin to list all the mistakes I’d made. That’s why he wanted to experience life living with his dad, right?
Doesn’t it mean something was wrong? ‘I’ was wrong??? I guess we all start to question ourselves, at some point . . .
Am I doing the RIGHT thing?
Do my kids even LIKE me?
Does it matter? (My job isn’t to be their friend. It’s to be their PARENT. Right?)
But, I had to set Austin up to succeed and it couldn’t be about ME and how I felt, right then. Which, to be honest, I like when it’s all about me. Can I get an amen? lol
It’s those moments of TRANSITION that really trip us up.
First, we worry about what’s coming up. What if we can’t handle it? Then we start to wonder, “NOW WHAT?”
It’s okay NOT knowing.
Everything changes when we’re WILLING to step out of what we know and into what God has called us to do.
I feel like God has purposely CONNECTED us, today.
He’s whispering, “You’re doing GREAT! I’ve got you and everything’s going to be OKAY!”
