A couple of years ago, when we were out of town I got up early to walk and exercise.

Our group was meeting at a certain time to catch a plane, so I had to make it QUICK.

I was enjoying the most BEAUTIFUL trails in the park. It was like something right out of a movie!

I knew I was going to speak on the subject of “The Path” soon, so I wanted to VIDEO something with my phone that I could share later.

Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 6.34.11 PM

Oh Deer!
As it happened, I was led to take a path that went right past a couple of DEER.

It was such an amazing opportunity to get CLOSE and actually reach out and pet a WILD animal!

Then I was like, “OH DEAR!” or “OH DEER!” She LICKED me!!!!
I felt like Steve Irwin, the “Crocodile Hunter”. (I even started talking with my fake Australian accent.)

Decisions, Decisions!
As I struggled to put my phone down, the deer just walked away. Oh No!!!

Do I PURSUE her with the hope of another encounter? Or do I get back to my walk so that I’m not LATE?

I’m REALLY GOOD at being late. But the people I was going to meet are ALWAYS early!

I weighed my choices; the deer experience OR keep my word and arrive on time? Deer or friends? Experience or honor?

Head vs Heart
Have you ever been faced with the choice of doing something that you REALLY wanted to do, knowing full well that there could be consequences?

• Taking the job, but LOSING a friend.
• Dating someone, but BETRAYING a friendship.
• Going to the ball game, but LYING to your boss.
• Closing the deal, but MISLEADING the client.
• Cashing the check, but DEFRAUDING the insurance company.

What we WANTED to do and what we knew we SHOULD do were at war in a “head verses heart” battle.

Final Destination
At some point, we’ll all face a FORK in our road. It’s the DIRECTION we choose that will determine our eventual destination.

In case you’re wondering…NO, I did not kidnap the deer and bring it home with me. (And fortunately, the plane did not leave without me!)

HOW do we choose the road to take? How do we KNOW where it will take us? And do our choices NOW really affect our future?

Follow the Yellow Brick Road
That’s what we’ll be talking about at the women’s “Yellow Brick Road” event, this Friday at 7:30pm, at the Earth City Campus.

Just for fun, wear your RUBY RED SHOES or dress like your favorite Wizard of Oz character. Bring along your gently worn shoes to donate to those in need.

We’ll have inspiring musical worship, a talk to encourage you and light refreshments. Don’t miss this FREE night of events designed to uplift your HEART, enlighten your BRAIN and boost your COURAGE!

Share this blog with your girlfriends, right now! (Guys, you can give your lady a “girl’s night out” or volunteer to help make the evening a success!) See you there!

As my path forks…I pray that it is the destination that God has for me. I will walk the path and trust in him.

Very grateful for this message…..and I am so looking forward to the event this Friday night. I’ve got a stack of shoes clogging (pardon the pun) my closet, and I’m bringing them to bless others through the mission work. Looking forward to seeing all of the incredible and powerful women this weekend!
