Nobody likes to have a door slammed shut in their face. But I believe that God moves through CLOSED DOORS as much as He does open ones.
My ex-boyfriend was a really GREAT guy. He was good-looking, had a solid job, and treated me with more respect than any guy had… to that point.
But despite spending nearly a year together, I’m not sure if he ever REALLY loved me. (It seemed like he was still infatuated with his high school sweetheart.)
After dinner one night, as he opened the car door for me (he always did the nicest things), he started talking about his parents and how he never intended to get married.
I was FLOORED!!! “You just told a single momma WHAT!?”
If he didn’t want to get married, WHY had we been dating so long?
I started wondering if I wasn’t good enough, smart enough, or pretty enough. Was he NEVER getting married… or just didn’t want to marry ME?
The door to the relationship began to CLOSE… but I kept PUSHING as hard as I could to keep it open!
Why do we trust God’s “no” a lot LESS than we embrace His “yes”?
If God shuts a door to a relationship, a business, a promotion, a house, a move, a car, a different church… why, WHY do we just keep trying to kick in the door?
He typically won’t open the RIGHT door for us until we agree to step away from the WRONG one!
So, take a step back… do an about-face… and start looking for the BLESSING you didn’t even know about, yet.
(In my case… it was a guy named David!)
