Are you gonna let boredom steal your power? I almost did.

You may not know this about me, but I took Karate when I was in college. (Are you impressed?)

Actually, there was a physical sport requirement and Karate just sounded COOL.

But, the class was boring as SNOT! Geez, pass the Kleenex.

The instructor just stood at the front of the class yelling.
“Down left!” That was our cue to use our right hands to punch down and to the left.

“Down left!” We did it again.

“Down left!” Again? Seriously?

“Down left!” Okay, okay… I got it. Down left. Can we MOVE ON?

“Down left!” Over and OVER, and OVER AGAIN!!!

This is SO dumb! Why are we doing these repetitive moves? (OMG… can you hear me whining yet?)

Remember the movie, Karate Kid? Wax on. Wax off. Paint the fence. It was that kind of mindless repetition. UGH!

I finally got my YELLOW belt. Sounds impressive… unless you know that it’s the belt that comes after white. lol

I didn’t realize it then, but those same moves were TRAINING my brain and forming deep roots in my muscle memory!

Now, it’s been a minute since I was in college. (Ok, stop doing the math.) But all this time later, my body STILL remembers the sequence.

Down left. Punch right. Cross over. Bring it up. Cross front. One… two… three… KIA!

There’s POWER in repetition. And there’s purpose in staying consistently planted.

In the future, we can fall back on those deep roots that developed when we stayed faithful to the process.

What is your DEEPEST ROOT? Is it the Word of God? Is it knowing who you are in Jesus?

Because, if you know WHO you are, it doesn’t matter when or where you are.

When your spiritual roots run deep, you can grow and BLOOM anywhere that God calls you!
