I remember being in my great-grandma’s basement and working tirelessly organizing a make-shift production of the ‘Sound of Music” with my cousins that had come to town from Arkansas. Never mind that they had never seen the movie and had no idea who the characters were…I had their back.

Some people saw an old couch and sheets pinned up with clothespins. I saw a set reminiscent of a pre-World War II Austria.

Where reality lacked, my imagination took over. And my imagination didn’t end at the set. It also filled in the gaps for my directing and producing abilities. I was pretty sure I was Spielberg in the making. (Sorry if that insulted you Steven!)

It’s funny how 35 or so years later, I still remember this so vividly.

When our imagination takes over, anything is possible.
