Why do we humans have a tendency to totally overcompensate for our deficiencies?

Seems like we’re always trying to rearrange our feelings by making EXTERNAL changes… instead of the internal ones.

Did that last statement sting a little bit? (I know it did for me…even as I typed it!)

Sometimes, I can just look at a girl from across the room and know that she’s masking tremendous pain. (Been there.)

Every hair is in place. Her outfit is impeccable; her makeup is flawless. She’s rocking the perfect accessories, all well-planned and precisely coordinated.

It seems to be hurt-people code for, “If everyone else thinks I’m okay, then I must be.”

We’ve all tried to mask our pain with an outward veneer of “perfection.” We’ve tried to fix ourselves instead of allowing God to do a full and complete MAKEOVER from the inside out.

We work from the outside in, self-help style. But the reality is… if we could help ourselves, we would have fixed stuff a long time ago!

Instead, we just keep trying to FAKE IT until we make it!

We have to stop leaning into ourselves for healing and finally fall back into God’s loving arms, with abandon.

The thing He requires of us, after we yield to putting Him

in charge, is the REAL “F” word.

FORGIVENESS.

Forgiving the rude, horrid, annoying, wrong, illegal, repeated, painful, intentional, mean, horrific, stupid, prosecutable things that someone did to us.

Forgiveness isn’t a sign of our weakness. On the contrary, it’s a sign of our inner strength and our commitment to finally HEALING!

It’s how we take our lives and our POWER back!
