In the first grade, I think we start asking kids the WRONG question. “So, what do you want to be when you grow up?”
I watch people, all the time, that walk through life totally frustrated because there’s this thing THEY want to do.
But NEVER in the Bible, does God EVER say, “My dear child, what do YOU want to do?” He said, “Before I placed you in your mother’s womb—I ALREADY KNEW YOU!”
WOW!!!
God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He goes back so far, no one can even remember. And He’s already so far out in the FUTURE— there’s no end to it!
So really, the questions we SHOULD be asking are, “What am I good at? What has GOD called and equipped me to do?”
It’s easy to covet someone else’s gift because it seems more glamorous. But, when we start trying to grab a gift that’s not ours, we forfeit OUR PLACE in history!
That just leaves a big HOLE in the universe!
We don’t feel fulfilled. Our family around us is miserable. And people don’t get saved!
We’re frustrated because we’re trying to do what WE want to do— NOT what God designed us to do! We’re resisting because our flesh is at war against our spirit.
If you’ll SURRENDER to God’s Purpose, pray about it and fast about it, you can lean into HIS calling.
And here’s the thing— you’re gonna find out that you feel so much better when you finally get in YOUR LANE!
That’s when TRUE fulfillment comes!
