Have you been feeling overwhelmed lately? Well, you’re not alone.
Seriously, you’re not failing. You’re probably just carrying something that actually matters.
I know… this April has been a LOT. (Who approved this schedule, anyway?)
I warned my team in advance that I might need some EGR (Extra Grace Required) days coming up.
Here’s my highlight reel:
- Good Friday and Easter across 3 states and 8 campuses.
- Tax day (with some surprise plot twists.)
- Closing on our old house and moving everything out by the middle of the month.
- Planning an out-of-town wedding for my daughter, Ashtyn, on the 24th.
(And somewhere in the middle of all that, my birthday. Lol)
I’m not making any excuses. I’m just letting you know in case my stress starts showing up on my face. (Ugh!)
I guess my default mindset has always been: “I HAVE to handle this. I have to fix this.”
Now, I’m learning to shift that. Instead, I need to say: “God, I CAN’T. Get me out of the middle. This is NOT my play.”
Here’s the funny thing… stress isn’t just caused by bad stuff. Sometimes it’s all the good stuff piling up at once.
You got the promotion, bought the house, started a new relationship, changed jobs, got married, and everything that goes with having kids. All blessings… but all stressful.
So if you’re feeling it right now, that doesn’t mean you’re weak. It just means you CARE.
You wouldn’t be stressed about things that don’t matter. So the very fact that you’re feeling stretched? That’s actually a sign that what you’re building matters.
Be mindful and don’t try to carry way more than you were meant to. That’s when stress can get dangerous.
It can feel like your foot is slammed on the gas pedal… and you forgot where the brakes are.
Even Paul dealt with anxiety and wrote the most highlighted verse in the Bible.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:7
Let me reassure you (and myself, as well), you’re going to be all right!
Go ahead and give yourself some EGR (Extra Grace Required). You’ve earned it!
Mark Twain said, “I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”
So today, let’s just simply pray: “Dear God, we give it all to you. Take it. We pull ourselves back and put You in the game!
Blessings!
Nicole
