The other day, I tried to make some cornbread for dinner, but it turned out to be a miserable FAILURE!
I put it in the oven and then left the house, for just a few minutes, to run some errands. (Umm…I guess you’re not supposed to do that!)
I came home to a smoky kitchen and a little black dried up brick-like thing in my oven.
The rest of my dinner was ready, but now, I don’t have any cornbread. So, I mixed up ANOTHER batch.
The instructions said to bake it for 25 minutes at 425. I can’t WAIT that long! I want it to be done in 15! So, I just raised the temperature up to 450 degrees to compensate.
When I took it out, it looked pretty good on the outside. But on the inside, it was gooey, GROSS and totally inedible!
You know, God has a plan and a process designed to help us fulfill our dreams. HIS TIMING is always perfect. But sometimes, we get in such a hurry that we get out ahead of Him.
That NEVER works!
When we’re stubborn, when we refuse to follow His instructions, when we try to rush things and go it alone…our dreams can fail!
Don’t settle for something that’s HALF-BAKED!
Wait upon the Lord! God wouldn’t have given us this passion and desire unless He already had a detailed plan to BRING ALL OUR DREAMS TO PASS!

Have you ever gotten out ahead of something God was trying to do in your life? How’d that work out for you?
Thank you Pastor Nicole! This post just hits me home and spoke to me in my current situation. Im grateful to have received this in my email.
Believing for a prodigal to “straighten up” this hit me RIGHT.BETWEEN.THE.EYES!
I have missed career opportunities because of not staying put. A few years ago, I applied for a position with the city of Fresno, CA. I was to impatient to wait and see what will happened. Left the city to visit with relatives and decided to stay in the area. Got a call and I was hired. A good full time job will always win over a part-time job. It was a long time before I had a full-time job.
God and the Holy Gost I prayer for everything alll day. Leave it on there door step and don’t stress over it. It will resolve in there timeline!
We call those hard things “Hockey Pucks ” we all made that mistake a few times, usually for me it was with burgers on the grill seeking well done
Thank u Lord that u teach us daily
Nicole, ????. Baker’s Square has delicious cornbread already prepared.
Being in this NOW culture, it’s difficult to practice waiting. I have to get used to thinking Eternally. That I am satisfied now in Christ and I can wait expectingly for more of His goodness.
AMEN !! I needed this so bad right now!! My life always seems to go go go !! Sometimes I feel like I have to hurry to get some kind of degree or accomplishment done and when I rush guess what ??!! It is a half baked dream! There has been some little signs that God has been throwing at me that I know he is preparing me for and for a minute I started to rush or (turn up the oven on it ) and he throws his signs up and lets me know…. SLOW IT DOWN !!! So thank you so much for this perfect timing always in his grace..
