I thought I could just take a little shortcut… but it ended up being a HUGE mess!
I really wanted to make some cornbread for our dinner. Yummy! But, I also had a million other things to do.
(No problem. I can multitask.)
So, I put the cornbread in the oven and left the house to run some quick errands. Should be fine. Right?
On the way back, I could already taste the butter! It was gonna be AMAZING!
(Turns out, that buttery smell was only in my dreams.)
When I got back, the house was smoky and there was an inedible black brick inside my oven. UGH!
Dang! Dinner’s almost ready and we still don’t have any cornbread. So, I just whipped up another batch. (Thank heaven for Jiffy mix!)
The instructions said to bake for twenty-five minutes at 425 degrees. But, I need it NOW! So, fifteen minutes at 450 ought to be fine.
Well… when I took it out… I didn’t have cornbread. I had a big gooey, GROSS mess that no one could eat!
Have you ever gotten AHEAD of God and it turned out badly? The same thing can happen with our DREAMS?
We want the dream but not the journey—the finish line without the race. We want the promise but not the process.
We want it all right NOW!
The truth is, to get to our GOAL takes patience on our part. WE do, then HE do. (Bad grammar… but great theology.)
We have to go through the PROCESS to get to our dreams.
With Christ, all things are possible (Philippians 4:11). The dream is already in you. It’s been there the WHOLE time!
Just be PATIENT. God wouldn’t have given you a dream unless He already had a way to bring it to pass.
