A few months ago, David and I had the privilege of meeting actor, Tyler Perry, in Atlanta where he lives. He was one of the nicest, sweetest, humblest guys! (In fact, we didn’t suggest this selfie…. HE did!)
By the time he was 22 years old, he had already been a bill collector and a used car salesman. But what he really wanted, was to put together his first show.
He cashed in his entire life’s savings to rent a playhouse, build a set, and hire a cast. By then, his car payment was behind and he was two months late on his own rent.
But, all he needed was for 200 people to come to his show for each of the 4 nights and he would take home a $14,000 profit. He was gonna RAKE IT IN!
But, only 30 people showed up.
He LOST EVERYTHING and ended up homeless! (Sounds like a great time to give up, doesn’t it?)
Today, Tyler Perry is a successful director, screenwriter, actor, and comedian, worth over 600 million dollars!
When our life looks like a MESS, we can’t whine about where we are… we have to get up and try again!
We have to call for a “do-over”!
Just like Tyler, we have to passionately pursue the future that God has planned or us.
We just have to KEEP ON!
Good Afternoon Pastor Nicole.
This is my first response since I signed up for the emails. Thank you so very much for such rich teachings that you send through these are deeply appreciated.
Pastor recently I have been troubled by the homeless elderly around the area I live in . Today I took time to call the displaced persons department in our Municipality. A key point raised by the lady I spoke to pertains to the challenge of fully rehabilitating the displaced persons as they seem to according to her word” want to go back to the life in the streets” Now the question In What state of mind is a person at this point . If as the teaching shared we are not to give up. Can the environment contribute to a person reclining to this kind of life. How and Where does one begin to revive the zeal for life form them?
Thank you and God Bless You Pator
Another great message.
Great blog, as per usual. I read his book, after my mom finished it. Easy read. God inspired and practical.
Indeed! “Tough times don’t last, tough people do”. #Motivated

My life has been turn into mess I pray like this message it gets better
Thank you for those words because I do feel like giving up
Wow, that was so great. Sure met me right where I am right now. No, I don’t have that kind of money but I have learned, when I get to the point of giving up that is just when God is ready to use me. Fear comes from the devil, also shows our lack of faith in God. “Don’t give up, God doesn’t give up on us!” He wants us to come to
Him. “ASK, SEEK AND KNOCK AND THE DOOR WILL BE OPENED!”
