One night I was sitting in a movie theatre on a date night with David. I was so excited to have alone time with him. We were actually in San Diego for a conference. I had come from one city, and he had come from another. And we had the WHOLE evening off.
While in the theatre my phone started ringing. I kept hitting ignore as long as I could but it wouldn’t stop. I finally answered. I’m glad I did. The roof had fallen in on the kid’s ministry during our midweek service!
Don’t you hate it when you’re somewhere really enjoying yourself, having a great time, and suddenly BAM anxiety and stress come out of nowhere and almost hit you upside the head? From laughter to upset stomach in 2.2 seconds.
And it doesn’t have to be something as big as the roof falling in either. It seems like it can be almost anything. Sick kid. Problem at work. Problem with someone at work. Unexpected bill. Not feeling good.
God got on my case about that today.
You might be thinking, ‘got on your case about what?’. He got on my case about LETTING thing STEAL my peace and that if I trusted Him enough my peace would stay and anxiety and stress wouldn’t have room.
You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
He promised to keep us in peace TO THE EXTENT THAT WE TRUST HIM. My lack of peace isn’t His fault. It’s mine. It’s a trust gap.
It’s funny because I thought that I REALLY trust God is everything. But now I have a indicator, a gauge, that shows me where my trust is strong and where I have room to trust more.
More trust in Him = more peace. When my trust gauge shows that I am full, my peace gauge will show that I am full. Ahhhhhh, I can suddenly breathe out.
I’m down with that! I NEED more peace in my life. I don’t like stress headaches (now I know, ‘lack of trust’ headaches) and indigestion. I like peace. How about you?
I want more peace, I need to increase my trust. I trust You Lord!!!!
If this is hitting home with you (almost like a sack of potatoes thrown at you out of nowhere) then you’re going to love my blog Monday. More on peace. How it’s real. And how to have more of it.
Would you do me a favor? If this helped you today, would you share it with a friend that might like it too? It’s time we all had more peace! Peace out!
