It’s funny how you can be the happiest you’ve ever been and aggravated at the same time. Ever since my grandson, Liam, was born, there has been so much love spilling over in my heart!
But then because of COVID restrictions, the hospital wouldn’t even let us go see him. (Talk about gritting my teeth…I wanted to pull the ‘I’m a pastor card” to see if I could get in the hospital.)
Those frustrating rules kept me from holding Morgan’s hand and telling her how proud I was of her. And, we didn’t get to hold him for a couple of days. (The loooongest days of my life!)
I really wanted to get my hot hands on that baby and just hug and kiss him!
I didn’t realize that a new generation being birthed would reveal a new chamber of my heart that I didn’t even know existed before.
Now, I feel more compassion and understand the frustration of a new momma that wants her family to share her joy, but isn’t allowed to have them around her.
Uptight, nervous, unable to effect any kind of change, and trying to be patient— I opened a devotional for my quiet time and it said, “Receive my Peace as you lie down to sleep, with thankful thoughts playing a lullaby in your mind.”
Lullaby? LULLABY? Lullabies aren’t for adults, they’re for babies! But that’s what I was aching over. Wow Lord, you blow my mind!
God uses tools, like key language… so we KNOW that He is all up in the middle of what’s happening in our lives and working all things together for our good.
Let not your heart be troubled.
He reminds us, that no matter what other craziness is going on in the rest of the world— He is intimately involved in OUR particular life and has a lullaby of peace for us.
Thank you, Father— that in these turbulent times your angels watch over each and every one of our individual families with provision and protection.
Thank you, Jesus— for the sweet sleep of the saved.
Thank you, Holy Spirit— we receive your precious peace!
