Back when Ashtyn was 9 years old, I thought it would be fun to get us tickets to see Taylor Swift in concert — sort of a mother/daughter night out on the town! (Woo hoo!!!)
But by the time the concert came around, I was super busy with about four big projects. Everything was catching up with me and I was physically EXHAUSTED!
I— literally— couldn’t move!
So, I asked Ashtyn if it would hurt her feelings if we invited SOMEONE ELSE to take her.
NOPE! Since she was able to choose her own chaperone—she was quick to accept my offer and gladly went off to the concert without me.
That made me SO happy!
Well—SORT OF happy.
Actually—I THOUGHT it would make me happy.
But, I was WRONG.
(Here it comes…)
About 30 minutes after they left, I started to feel really GUILTY. Remorse quickly followed.
Then—I got a text that Ashtyn had been UPGRADED to the THIRD ROW!
TAYLOR SWIFT—THIRD ROW!!! Are you kidding me?
The thought of my daughter making “third-row memories” with someone BESIDES her mom started to haunt me.
I knew that I needed to rest. But, I also wanted to be at that concert with Ashtyn— SO BAD!
The trick of the enemy is to try and steal our happiness EVERY day of the week. He always tries to make us feel like we made the WRONG decision and we’re doing the wrong thing.
Whatever is happening to you—THIS moment —wherever you are—God wants you to be HAPPY!
Enjoy your life… right where YOU ARE!
