A few weeks ago, I was driving through a VERY NICE area near Palm Beach, Florida, when I saw a guy and a gal digging through the TRASH.
The man had his head WAY down in the can and was pulling out GARBAGE.
Here was a nice-looking couple, in the middle of an affluent neighborhood, EATING out of a trash can!!!
MAN! What tripped that trigger? How did they ever get to that point?
I’m convinced, that what happens in our INNER life will eventually affect what happens in our OUTER life.
It’s In The Can
Picture one of those SHINY metal (Oscar the Grouch) trash cans. The container is US, the temple of the Holy Spirit.
We’re bright and NEW. At least, that’s the way we start out in life. EVERYONE is our friend!
Then we go to kindergarten, and some kid STEALS our crayons!
At recess, the “cool” kids play Red Rover, Red Rover….and they DON’T send Nicole over. (You talk about hurting your self esteem!)
Hold Your Nose
All through life, we go from one HEARTBREAK and BETRAYAL to the next.
But, if we never get rid of the OLD rejection and pain that piles up in our can, then our life feels ROTTEN and begins to STINK!
You probably know someone like that, who’s been HOLDING ON to every past hurt.
It’s like, “Whew! You smell FUNKY today! WHOA! Who did you wrong?”
Leave It On The Curb
Stop DIGGING around in the NASTY past!
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.” Ephesians 4:31 (NLT)
It’s God’s will for us to have PEACE.
FORGIVE, and let it go. Take out the trash and get on with your life!
I needed this today. I am seperated from my husband and have been fighting for 2 years to sve a marriage that he has checked out of. I need to let go of the rage, anger, and bitterness. I need to stop looking for the dirt. It is time to forgive, let go and move on. God has better things planed for my life!
Praying for you Melissa! You are making the right choice. 🙂
If it is God it is peace and joy and happiness. Follow this path for he is near. : )
Pastor Nicole, I had to learn this years ago. I got burned at 7 years old. I’m now 47. I got burned on my face, arms, torso, legs, everywhere, and it’s noticeable. Growing up, kids were cruel, people were cruel and family was cruel. That damaged my self esteem and damaged my how I felt about my self then. But I had to learn to let all that go. Now, people stare, I don’t care anymore. The scares are there, and they not going anywhere, I just keep it moving. I am a great person to know, and if they can get beyond the staring, they can find that they can probably find a great friend! Thanks for all you and Pastor David share! (he’s a comedian and perhaps should get checked out!! ha-ha!) You guy’s are wonderful!
Denise, you are amazing! This is one of the most inspiring comments I have ever gotten. 🙂 No matter how many scars you have, you are–and will always be–BEAUTIFUL. 🙂
WOW. Is it just because you’re aweomse that you get to shoot a ceremony during magic hour??? The fact that this couple is insanely gorgeous (and, that DRESS) really adds to the creativity of each shot.
