Excerpts from my new book “Hi God, One More Thing, How to Talk to God About the Tough Stuff.” Enjoy!
“Hi God. I feel so . . . restricted––so tied down. It seems like the weight of the world is on my shoulders.”
“As soon as I try to offload part of this mess to somebody else, another round of craziness pops up, they drop the ball, or something crashes.”
(Can you relate to this?)
“I tell them I’m fine; but I know I’m not. This stress . . . this confusion . . . this burnout pace. . . this can’t be your best for me.”
“(God) You said to take your yoke upon me, and that I would find rest. I want to do that––I really do! It’s just that I don’t think I can carry a single feather more than the junk I have on my shoulders at the moment.”
(Should we go on?)
“But you’re not trying to add anything. You’re looking for a trade. You want my yoke. And then, I get yours.”
“Your yoke is asking instead of telling. Your yoke is releasing my junk, my control, my burden, my fear, and all the weight of the questions I think I have to answer by myself. It’s putting down every single thing I think I have to do, and simply taking up your yoke.”
(Feeling better yet?)
“You’ve promised to carry this . . . but you won’t do it until I release it to you.”
“This is an amazing trade! I can’t believe I haven’t taken you up on this before now. Today, Father God, I take on your yoke and I leave MINE to you.”
(Amen! Hope this helped!)
