My heart was racing and I could hardly br… bre… breathe!!!
It was the weirdest thing! Returning to my old neighborhood in Ferguson-Florissant actually made me start to sweat!
I have so many bad memories about being abused, from my previous marriage… it was blowing my mind!
Just being in that vicinity caused me to go into straight-up PANIC MODE!
You see, I used to be on a first-name-basis with the police department there. (And not in a good way.)
But on that day, David and I were searching for a building.
In 2014, that same area was rocked by violent riots. Molotov cocktails flying. Buildings burning. It looked like a war zone!
Let me tell you… it was pretty SCARY!
We knew we were supposed to help, somehow. People around there desperately needed a place of HOPE to turn to.
While fear was controlling most everyone else, we had a decision to make: REACT to the fear? Or, ACT in FAITH?
Have you ever been there?
It’s tempting to stop dead in our tracks when life looks a little forbidding. But, nothing great was ever accomplished out of fear.
We did the only thing we thought we could do to help the situation. We decided to plant a NEW church!
(And I had to make a personal faith decision.)
I couldn’t allow my BIG, HAIRY PAST to get in the way and actively suffocate my future!
You have the choice to move forward, too.
Leave all those MONSTERS in your past. You’re called to a purpose BIGGER than you could ever ask for or imagine.
You’ve spent your whole life preparing for this moment. DON’T allow fear to shut you down!
