Has anyone ever told you something important but you forgot to write it down?
There was this one time, I was SO mad at David Crank! We were at a conference, sitting way up front on the second row.
The pastor was preaching and walking back and forth, right in front of us. He was talking and looking DIRECTLY at us.
But, David was totally ignoring him. He had his head down and was writing and writing, as fast as he could. I swear, this pastor was preaching right to US…and David was not even looking up!
I was trying to play it cool, but it was getting super uncomfortable. I just kept nudging him harder and harder.
“David.” (Pay attention!)
“David!” (He’s talking to us!)
“DAVID CRANK!!!”
Then loud enough for the pastor to hear, he looks at me and says, in an annoyed voice, “I DON’T CARE WHAT HE’S SAYING… GOD’S TALKING TO ME, RIGHT NOW!”
Yeah, I was embarrassed, but David was absolutely right.
He said, “I can get what he (the pastor) says on the CD after the service. But, if I don’t listen to God, right now, He’s probably not gonna repeat it.”
David was HONORING what God was saying to him, in that moment!
Some days, He may speak a lot… and some days, not at all. But when God does speak to us, we should always honor what He says by writing it down!
The shortest pencil is better than the longest memory!
