Big fat statement, huh? God didn’t promise that once we became a Christ follower that the journey wouldn’t require faith, patience and perseverance. But when we pass the test of being able to be HAPPY on the journey (really our faith and trust in action), it paves the way for the breakthrough God DID promise.
“We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the LORD has done for them.” Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us! What joy!” – Psalm 126:2-3
Everybody likes this part and quotes and believes it. But the next couple lines really give us wisdom and perspective.
“Restore our fortunes, LORD, as streams renew the desert. Those who plant in tears. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.” Psalm 126:4-6
They had a NEED. They were in a place of tears as they recalled and remembered how good God HAS been to them. They refused to be sad on the journey, allowing TRUE and FULL happiness at the destination.
They knew they weren’t there yet, but were reminding themselves of happiness and joy ON PURPOSE.
“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” – Hebrews 11:6
Walking in happiness on the journey, knowing God has it and trusting God with it, when you don’t have a reason to be happy is FAITH. It is TRUST. It makes GOD HAPPY! And when you make GOD HAPPY – everybody’s gonna be HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!
