I’ve got a lot of weight on my hips – – and that’s the way I want it. OUCH! Take one day this week and each time you complain about something or say something negative, add the words “and that’s the way I want it.” I’m not suggesting you do this more than one day, but the purpose is to help you realize what you are saying about yourself, your life, and the world around you. There is power in our words and we need to take an inventory of what we are saying.
Our words make things happen whether we intend them to or not. I was talking with my family, and someone mentioned that it would be neat to have a horse on the property for people to look at and to pet. I flippantly agreed. The next thing I know a horse shows up. WHAT JUST HAPPENED!? It took many more words to make the horse go away than it took to get it.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue… Proverbs 18:21
When we passionately say words in fear or anger we release our faith in that direction. When we are angry and we tell someone they are stupid, WE RELEASE THOSE WORDS INTO THEIR FUTURE. Once we calm down, we realize that they aren’t stupid, and they just did something stupid. So, try the little test I mentioned, “You’re so stupid – – and that’s the way I want it.” Uh, NOT!
When God saw the black void, he didn’t magnify the problem, he spoke the solution and solutions happened. He didn’t talk about what was wrong, he said, “Let there be light.” What are YOU saying today?
